Art Therapy, Dementia, Stroke:

In-Home Art Therapy

I provide in- home art therapy services for people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson's disease, the effects of a stroke, and other forms of dementia.

Together we will work to find purpose and meaning in your life,  this could reflect as creating a finished product, working on improving family relationships, processing end of life concerns, enhancing communication and exploring what might bring you happiness and contentment.

If it is difficult for you to leave your home, I will come to you for our sessions-- whether you live in a private residence, assisted living, or skilled nursing community.

Art Therapy & Dementia

People living with progressive diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease may feel they have nothing left to look forward to in life. The creative arts provide a way to continue to live a meaningful life by embracing strengths rather than focusing on what is lost. As an art therapist, I will listen with compassion when you express difficult emotions, and I will laugh with you when you need to laugh. "Art therapy" can mean different things. I have many tools in my toolbox-- collaging, painting, felting, puppetry, improvisation, collage, weaving, altered books, and more.

I will support you to find the type of art processes and projects that will best help you meet your goals. Together we will explore what your goals are. Perhaps a goal would be to feel happier, resolve past conflicts, fight against ageism, or share your lived experience. Whatever the focus, we can discover what you need and see if I am a good fit for you, your parent, spouse, or loved one.
